Thank you for pointing me to this. I am just reviewing this code on Codeplex to see how it all bolts together.
It may be possible to adapt this control to look at lists from other site collections. If I get that far I will post back to this thread.

I have a requirement to allow users to click on a link or button in a list view and have that initiate a workflow.
