Try this:Go to Site Actions, Site Settings. Then select Seach Settings from the Site Collection Administration groupNow change the setting to use custom scopes, and enter the  relative URL for your search center for example /SearchCenter/PagesThis should you all the scopes you have configured on your search center.Hope this will help.Kapila

Hi Dave, When you are crating a list column it is possible to select a column type as Person or Group and under Show Field to select the Dept field. Only problem is you may have to have two columns for user name and department and enter the user details twice to achieve the required result.   Kapila
