• Re: To provision mysites or not to provision mysites

Lesley, My Sites provides an easy way to roll up content such as Tasks from across the application. While this can be done through other means, MySites makes it fairly painless. You can also use it for informal collaboration and sharing without provisioning sites especially for that. If you customize the site template, you can create fairly decent

  • SharePoint Documentation tools

Does anyone have a list of tools that can be used for documenting a SharePoint 2007/2010 installation? Ideally I would like to point to a site collection and get a schema of all of the lists and their dependencies (i.e. lookups), so that I know what has to be moved together, and what can be moved separately. If it could do this in a Visio drawing,

Thanks, Rich. I also thought it unlikely, for the reasons that you described, but wanted to ask before shelling out the ยฃยฃยฃ's for the server and software necessary. I'm surprised that there aren't more developers asking for this type of service. This seems like something that is a fundamental requirement across all of the server ...

  • SP2010 Developer Web Hosting

Has anyone found a reliable web host for SP 2010 developers? I'm looking to support 2-5 developers, and need to be able to test custom web parts, workflows, and branding. I will also need BCS, InfoPath, and (obviously) Visual Studio support. The web hosts that I have found so far are geared at 50+ users per month and/or limited

Are you running Forms Based Authentication in addition to the integrated Windows authentication? Perhaps you could compare the permissions of the 5 vs the others to see where the difference is. HTH Steve

  • Re: Geographical Spread and SharePoint Angle

Hello all, I'm based in St Ives, and have been supporting SharePoint as an additional duty since 2003, mainly administration and lightweight development/customisation. We are on 2007 and will be moving to 2010 next year. I'm hoping that the idea of a local East Anglia chapter will take off, as it will allow me to become more involved in the ...
