Morning All,

I'm Adam, I found this forum a little while ago and been very impressed with the information and support shared between members and I thought it was about time I joined in.

I'm in the process of setting up team sites within our organization, we are using MOSS2007. Any good practice guidelines or information would be welcomed.

Hope to contribute to the forum in the near future.

Welcome aboard, It's a shame that you missed lasts nights user group meeting in Ullesthorpe as Steve's presentation was mostly about Good practice when setting up SSP's and site collections.

If you haven't already done any training, then I'd recommend you get on an admin course as soon as possible.. the books are all well and good, but that human interaction is a great help. You also benefit from the real world experience of the trainer when it comes to subjects like best practice.

Gutted I missed Steve's presentation, will there be anything similar in the near future?

As for admin courses can you recommend any? I'm in Wales, UK.

The usergroup meetings are fairly regular and on varied subjects. Certainly always worth trying to get along to them if only for the networking and being able to chat to people in a similar role to yourself.

With regards to courses, my personal recommendation is the Admin course run by Combined Knowledge. There are other providers, but I've attended the CK courses and found them to be very good. They run one at Ullsthorpe, just south of Leicester that would probably suit you nicely.

There are many many sites to find information on SharePoint however there are some good planning guides on the SharePoint Techcentre that you should have a look at and a usefull Community portal hosted at Microsoft :

The SharePoint Administrators Companion book is also a good place to start for new people to SharePoint to get up and running on the components of the product.

I'll second that book recommendation as I find it an invaluable resource to have on my desk. Of the 3 or 4 SharePoint books I have it's easily the most looked at, despite my focus being more on development of late.
