Can we suggest forum or site topics?

As a complete newbie to SharePoint I am still at the 'swamped by information overload' stage. Its hard to separate the wheat from the chaff etc.

The joy of reading articles dissing SharePoint (Cameron Moll etc.) is a not fun when the company has already hitched its wagon to MOSS 2007 so I'd be looking for a site tlike this to go 'SharePoint is great don't worry if you are new, read these books, blogs sites etc. Convince your boss to send you on these courses etc.'.

I know the information is dotted around the site but a beginners section (the biggest proportion of new members?) would be useful?

Just a sleepless thought.

I agree with this as I am also new to sharepoint but long in the tooth in working with web based collaboration and content management systems.

I am a great fan of networking in a people sense and have been a member of user groups before and found them to be of great benefit. There is often a gap between the noob and the experienced and it can be a daunting experience for even the most confident so anything to ease the transition would be appreciated - I would also be prepared to help out in this respect if I can.

Thats a good suggestion, I'm not 100% certain if we can make 'sticky' topics or not on this forum software, but I'm sure Nick or Steve can do something like that.

It's alwas going to be hard t have a definitive list, you're joining SharePoint some 18 months after the Beta release of 2007 so the information available has balloned somewhat in that time, but I'm sure that a lot of us that have been working on 2007 since the Beta have some great links we can share. I'll have a dig through mine over the nex week and see if I can post something to start the ball rolling.
