Mark Macrae - A Typical SharePoint BI Project
From my experience of working on multiple SharePoint BI projects I will discuss and demonstrate the characteristics of a typical project. I will cover the following key areas:
- Problems (why is a SharePoint BI project necessary?)
- Planning Phase (skills required, BI tool selection, infrastructure and authentication planning)
- Data Model (Load, Data Warehouse and OLAP Cube basics)
- Development – this will be a live demonstration of dashboarding with Excel and PerformancePoint
- Lessons Learned – My Top 10 tips for a successful SharePoint BI Project
This is mainly for a non-technical/Information Worker audience with some technical references (Level 200)
Seb Matthews - "Big Data for SharePoint - Understanding the challenges of using SharePoint as a large scale document repository"
In this session, we will look at the challenges of using SharePoint as a big data repository including:
- large scale document ingestion - getting stuff into SharePoint
- making metadata work in big-data environments
- infrastructure challenges and how to overcome them
- ensuring Search is effective with high volumes of documents
