    Site usage report (last accessed)

    Hi,
Just a quick question - has anyone developed anything in powershell or some other form that they wouldn't mind sharing, to report on site collections and sites to show their last accessed date and/or site usage?

Of course I'm aware of the site usage reports on each site, but when you have hundreds of sites you need to just enumerate the sites quickly in a report and see which sites have not been used in 6 months or more.

I'm not looking for a paid product as there's no budget for such things. Not sure if anything to provide this function is available on Codeplex?

    Many Thanks,

    Jason.

There is a sharepoint reporting framework available on www.codeplex.com/governance it might have what you need. certainly what you need is available though the object model so it should be simple to code a console app that can grab this info for you.

Let me know if you need more info

Thanks Neil, I'll give that one a look. Unfortunately I'm no developer, so I'm rather limited at querying the object model..  :o(

Using PinPoint, you can quickly see what your users are looking at and where they are congregating. PinPoint also allows you to find sites and documents that are seldom viewed and might warrant removal.

    I hope this helps

Neil - I've tried "MSIT Site Life Cycle Management v1.1" from that Codeplex site and it appears the package is incomplete & unable to install (I'm not the only one according to the discussions there). Not sure how it works, but I wanted control of the notifications so that I see which sites it's about to remove before it does it.

Andy - I've tried PinPoint too - but it only goes as far back as 30 days and up to 99 sites - kind of limited. Thanks all the same though.

Re: Site usage report (last accessed)

    Hi Neil,
Thanks for the information on this one. I've implemented it and seems to work well enough. I can see the last date data was changed for a particular site now which is great - just would be nice if it showed the last date it was accessed, but not to worry - we can't have everything can we?! ;o)

    Cheers,
    Jason.
