    Crawling 'offline'\'archived' files?

    Hi All

I have been trying to figure out a weird problem with SharePoint search over the last 6-8 months.  At first I thought it was something to do with the latest SP I applied....were I was getting thousands of warnings from the crawl logs from one of our file store folders :-

The specified address was excluded from the index. The crawl rules may have to be modified to include this address. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)he specified address was excluded from the index. The crawl rules may have to be modified to include this address. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)

Anyway to cut a long story short, yesterday I 'had a brain wave' and realised the files not crawling are actually 'archived' using our Centera solution.

So the question is does anybody know how to crawl (successfully) archived files?

    Thanks

    Nick

    Re: Crawling 'offline'\'archived' files?

THIS WAS MY ORIGIONAL POST BACK IN OCTOBER 2009

Ok, ever since I have applied the latest service pack to Moss2007 Enterprise, I have had a problem crawling an area on our file store, prior to the update all but a handful of the files crawled successfully?

I now get this rather annoying error on approx 56,000 files (the other '50' odd thousand crawl successfully) :-

The specified address was excluded from the index. The crawl rules may have to be modified to include this address. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)

I have ensured that the crawl account has at least read permissions, albeit this has not changed since pre SP2? as the account was a member of our Domain Admins group which has Full Control to all our file store folders etc?

If anybody can shed any light I would be very grateful as I have 'googled' this to death.

    Cheers

    Nick
