    Document Library Permission Help

    Hi all,

In my site collection I have 4 document libraries, currently users are able to upload documents but other user's are then able to edit them.

I wish to set it so that only the creator/uploader can modify the documents, is this possible?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Re: Document Library Permission Help

It is possible, but you would need to implment Information Rights Management (IRM) to allow the control of the permsissions etc of the documents, IRM allows you then to set persmissons as low down as a per item level within a document library.

    I hope this helps

    Re: Document Library Permission Help

Unfortunately IRM is not really what we require.

Is there not a standard permission set in SharePoint that allows users to only edit their own items?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Re: Document Library Permission Help

If you enable the appropriate version control you can control only users and those with approval rights to see documents. Would this help?

Otherwise - you could write a code based workflow that would programmatically set the permissions on a per item basis. Not the simplest thing in the world to do, but give it a go!

Unfortunately not out of the box, IRM allows for the best option (if you want to avoid any coding ,etc), though setting up IRM may take as long as a custom workflow.
