I have a problem with the search function in SharePoint. When I enter a search term in the main portal pages and search, the results do not contain any entries from the teamsite pages. This function did used to work, as I remember testing it, but I am not sure when it stopped and therefore I cannot pinpoint any event which might have broken it. I f I search for the same word from within one of the team sites then the search will be succesful, but if you then click on the option to search the whole of the SharePoint site, it won't bring back those results. The only exception seems to be items that have been submitted to the portal area, which it will bring back twice, once as 'A listing under home' and once from the team site. I have tried resetting the indices and re-configuring the crawl of the site directory, but I can't seem to fix it. This is very frustrating because this is an important function, and as I mentioned, it used to work just fine. If anyone has come across this before and knows what to do to fix it, I would be very grateful. If it makes any difference we have service pack 3 installed, but I don't recall seeing this in the list of things that service pack 3 broke.
PS - I' m not an IT person and I'm fairly new to sharepoint and I have had to create a small site for our company, learing the necessary skills as I go so please put any comments that you might offer in fairly simple speak.
