    SP Administrator Viewing Target Audience Content

    Hi,

    Im administering a Sharepoint 07 SP1 implementation with a large number of subsites and users. A designer of each subsite is able to add certain webparts and set the audience targeting to their particular team/group (AD WINDOWS GRP). How as a top level administrator can I see the webparts contents that  they have added as its still hidden for me(due to the audience targeting - im in a different AD Windows Group), surely I should be able to see it though as im the SP Admin, I need to proof the content? I have been into Central Admin and then Policy for Web Application and added myself in to no avail. Any ideas??

    Many Thanks.

    James.

    Hi James,

    You may have to add yourself to each Audience group or create an admin audience and instruct the designers to add your audience to the web parts in addition to their own audiences.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply rummy. I was worried someone might say that, as its Windows Group, for example the windows group is ITSUPPORT where as I am in ITPROJECTS even though I am the SPAdmin, and typically they will choose not to add ITPROJECTS, is there any way of forcing them to choose a Sharepoint Group if I create one?

    Hi James,

    Not that I know of. If there are not too many audience groups to modify, add a rule to each audience where:

    Operand = User;

    Operator = Member Of

    Value = ITPROJECTS

    All members of the ITPROJECTS can view the web parts, but if they do not have permissions in MOSS, security is still in place.

    Rummy

    Re: SP Administrator Viewing Target Audience Content

    Hi rummy,

    I can t easily ammend the groups at moment so that wont work for me. I can however see the webparts if I edit the page but thats a bit of a crap workaround as I then have to re-publish the page. Any other ideas?
