Hi Dave,
For a year now we have the same symptoms – different date/time stamp between Explorer View and All Documents View. I think we are using SharePoint Services 2.0. The problem occurs on only a few files. Our setup is multi-site with our US company hosting SharePoint, making it accessible to three European countries. Files appear to be affected after modifications have been made by people in Europe, i.e. those on a different time zone. Our time stamps are incorrect when we use All Documents View; we check out and check in files rather than use Explorer View to make modifications.
Once a file gets into the state of having the wrong explorer timestamp it never gets out of it, unless I do the same as you suggested – change one of the file properties in Explorer View. This creates another version of the file unfortunately.
The workaround is inconvenient, so I would like to see the problem fixed. Our SharePoint administrator is adamant that there is no such problem with SharePoint so I have had no luck in getting any help from anyone.
