How to Bring Your Organization's Data Together with Business Connectivity Services - Brett Lonsdale
In this session Brett Lonsdale will provide a fast paced introduction to using Business Connectivity Services (BCS) to resolve real world issues. Starting from the benefits of BCS, Brett will demonstrate how to present content that does not live within SharePoint, using Business Data Web Parts, External Lists, External Data Column, Search and building dashboards. Brett will be using Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2010 and the browser.
Session 2 - Start time 8.00
Connecting the Dots - Making BCS Happen - Penny Coventry
In this session, Penny Coventry follows on Brett's BCS session and explains what has to be done to allow business analysts, and power users build Line of Business solutions that Brett demo'd. Penny will discuss the Business Data Connectivity (BDC) application service, security, profile pages, actions and importantly how to create External Content Types and how these affect the creation of External Lists, External Data Columns and Search. Penny's session like Brett's session, is a non-code session using the SharePoint 2010 Central Administration web site and SharePoint Designer.
