    Amalgamated Calendar Solution

I desperately want to share a Calendar function across my Site Collection into Sub sites, is this possible ?

My primary goal would be to create a Calendar that sits in the Site Collection that can be seen from all Sub Sites, I would permisison all my sub Site groups to be able to add entries to this and then I was thinking I would link to this Calendar from all the SubSites using Views to only show me the Sub Sites relevant information.

Does anyone know if this is going to be possible. It's basically my spin on having several team Calendars that roll up into one amalgamated calendar.

Thoughts appreciate. I guess the primary question is is it possible to create a Calendar in a Site Collection and see from Sub sites whithout out seeing it as a web part with all the page title and frame.

    Thoughts massively appreciated.

You can easily do this with the Content Query Web Part.

Set as follows: QUERY - Select 3rd option and choose the master calendar. Then in List Type, choose Calendar. Keep the Show all Content Types for now.

This will give you the ability to at least view the details of the calendar entries on another top level site. To further refine this, you can add a choice column to the calendar so that when people enter data, they can specify to which department/site it it relevant. This can then be reflected in the CQWP by adjusting the filters. You can also amend the presentation as you see fit.

It's a bit of work to get setup how you would ideally want it and it doesn't provide the nice square box calendar view but it will provide you with ordered lists of relevant calendar events.

Paul, thanks for the quick response, this is sort of how I did it before but in reverse, I basically created a Team Calendar from within 4 Sub Sites in my Site collection and used a Roll up on the front of my Site Collection. The problem with both these solutions is that neither shows the calendar in a Calendar view as you rightly pointed out and also in order for them to add entries to the Calendar they would have to navigate to the Site Collection Level (Master Calendar) not add an entry from within their Subsite which is not ideal.

My original thinking (although maybe not possible) was to have a master calendar on the Site Collection and have it visible in Calendar view in Sub sites but also be able to input into it.

    Maybe not possible.

The Microsoft Learning Gateway may be able to do this for you, as I know it pulls calendars together.
