    Setting up test platform

    Good morning

We have a Virtual server (VMware) running our live MOSS 2007 platform and it is working fine, we have some problems which we need to resolve with MS support but cannot do this on to a live platform. Has anyone setup a testbed for their MOSS 2007 installation and how did they do this.

We are concerned that copying the current Virtual server to a testbed and using another instance of SQL server will have an effect on the original setup so we are being cautious.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

    Re: Setting up test platform

    Hi Brenden

Working mainly on eCom projects that have multiple enviroments, virtual and physical, as long as you check and double check that your test enviroment is pointing to the test database you really should not have nay real problems, unless db paths have been hard coded in any custoim workflows, BDC or custom web parts (which i hope would be unlikely).

The other option is to build a new enviroment and then start setting it up to match your prodution enviroment, this may take longer, but alos help with the issuess your having, if you check the issues before and after each stage of the build and setup of the sites, etc it may help pinpoint the problem (but this will depend on the issues your having?)
