Re: Setting default locale for Mysites

This if for regular IIS/ASP.NET apps which are using a process identity.

It won't help for My Sites as the regional setting for a Site Collection is configured in the SharePoint Content Database.

Re: Setting default locale for Mysites

    Hi.

I am currently working with escalation engineers in Microsoft France to try and get a design change or fix through for the issue you have seen here.

The issue has been confirmed and the code identtified that causes the locale to switch back to English-US. However, before a fix can be built a justification is needed.

Our customers are all education based and can provide us with some justification for fixing this issue, but I wondered if you had any input as to why the default being US affects your clients appart from being annoying that it isn't their default locale.

Any feedback you could give would be extremely useful to us and the escalation team to try and get a fix / workaround produced for this issue.

    thanks in advance,

    ESCuk (Richard)

There is no current fix for this issue, but there are a couple of work arounds (see link below).  I have had a call open with Microsoft about this via the Education Support Centre for some time.  Microsoft have confirmed that they do not currently provide a supported method for applying regional settings on MySites other than applying the setting manually on each site (which is not workable), however there is now a code change request awaiting approval.  For more info see http://lumbgaps.blogspot.com/2007/08/sharepoint-2007-set-mysite-locale.html
