    Disscussion Boards vs Outlook

We are using MSS2007 and Outlook 2003 internally.  We have thought about moving our discussions from Outlook to MOSS.  The basic system seems fine but we are getting a lot of reasonable objections.

Formating is lost copying code samples into the discussion board message, the ease of use, compared to Outlook is poor, to quote a couple.

Am I missing something or can SharePoint actually work well as a discussion board?  Personally I wouldn't class this forum as being anything like as flexibly set up as having it all in Outlook for instance.

    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

It does seem odd but there is definitely still some Outlook features that work better than the equivalent SharePoint features.  One thing to consider is that SharePoint is much easier to build on than Outlook so if the out of the box SharePoint Discussion board isn't impressing you try looking at alternatives that you can download and add on.  I don't have any specific ones in mind but I'm sure there out there.
