Hello all,
I have recently restored my institutes SharePoint Intranet Portal onto new hardware to recreate a catastrophic restore senario. I had used stsadm.exe application to restore to a single server enviroment. I had used the "new" restore method. Everything went ok apart from an error with search on restore. When I had looked in Central administration the search service was not installed, so I went ahead and installed the service.
I have started the search service but I keep getting this error.
Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the search service with no luck. I have looked into the Shared Services administration under site settings and have changed the prefered search center to the address of the new hardware. Also while in Shared Services Admin I had a look at the "Search Settings" and I get the below error.
The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Dan
