I have been working on fours sites for The NEC Group since this time last year. They initially went live mid October with constant updates and revisions being made since.

I did the all of the development myself, working from mocks and graphical elements provided by the designer. All customisation was developed from a clean sheet of paper

Briefly, some of the customisations work includes:

• full url rewriting for all pages
  
• custom error handling throughout, including handling all 404 errors from both pages and directories
• custom 'What's On' search for the extensive events list across all venues
  
• bespoke RSS/Atom feeds, including the ability to get a feed from any page by adding ?rss or ?atom to the end of the url, feeds using CAML queries or feeds using full text queries
  
• search suggestions
  
• a custom categorisation feature to allow content to be tagged with multiple, hierarchical categories from a central list

I think that is about it for starters.

Really nice work there Richard, I’m sure everyone would be interested in the architecture behind the site (as in some of the planning behind the sites and the publishing processes your using, etc. Also maybe some behind the scenes info the customisation).

I've been working on a very heavliy customised series of sites of late and been trying to put together similar info, with gotcha's etc and get them on my blog (when i find the time to finish them).
