How to setup Active Directory integration?

Just in the process of getting two WSS 3.0 installs ready to roll. They are very similar setups for 2 GP surgeries that I do some consulting work for.  Pretty basic installations, each is on Windows 2003 server and I need to then get them to pull user details from AD running on the same server as the WSS install as this seems the obvious way to manage permissions for users to different sites/libraries/etc.

Can anyone give me some pointers on how to do this initially and then to set up a regular sync between AD and WSS?

    Thanks

    Hi Dan,

How far have you got with this?  Have you setup Active Directory on the server?

    Thanks

    Sorry for the slow reply.

The server that I'm installing WSS onto is the (Server 2003) domain controller for the network, so it already has Active Directory up and running. I've done a basic install of WSS3 onto the server, but not got any further than that yet.

No doubt there's some steps needed both within AD and WSS to get it working properly.

The main use for WSS will be to run as a document library for policies and protocols, split into 3 or 4 different sections that represent the 'departments' of the business. Need to have permissions based on the role a person has, so that's where I need AD to come into play with it's easy group memberships.
