    SLK Assignments

I am in the process of adding assignments to a SharePoint site with SLK enabled.  I have no problem with doing this and can see the assignment in the My Learning area.

I have a couple of questions however:

Is it feasible or indeed good practice to add a word document as an assignment (ie a non-SCORM 2004 compliant document) into the My Learning area?  If it is then when the student opens the word document, how is this then saved, does it go into their own work area?  If that is the case how is that recalled or is that a case of doing it the old way of the student then prints it off and passes it to the teacher for grading which can then be entered against the students assignment.

Once the work has been graded how does that mark then get back to the student?

How do you all use the SharePoint solution for your students, do you allow them to add work to MOSS? I want students to be able to interact but in the safety of them doing it right and not messing things up.

    Re: SLK Assignments

We also use Word documents as the basis for assignments in SLK.  Students open the document from their Assignment Diary and can then save them locally if need be.  They have to return them either via email or hard copy in the conventional way.

We still use Class Server for interactive assignments, which can be complleted online by the student and returned to the teacher.  Grading the takes plac in SLK and the student receives either the grade or the whole assignment (marked) back.

Although Class Server is a bit clunky, I have not yet found a third party content editor which will allow me to easily create interactive assignments which are SCORM compliant, to unleash on the teaching staff.

I would be interested in knowing about schools who have a facility for student to upload their completed assignments into MOSS for teachers to assess.
