Finally got my Vodafone 3G card to work on Vista! This is how I got it to work:

  • Inserted "Vodafone Mobile Connect Software" installation CD into the DVD ROM.
  • DID NOT install software.
  • Inserted 3G card into the PCMCIA slot and let Vista install the drivers.
  • Set up new internect dial-up connection from the "Network and Sharing Centre".
    • Set connection to use HUAWEI Mobile Connect 3G modem.
    • Set dial-up number to: *99**1*1# (Vodacom SA number, yours will be different i assume).
  • Done!
  • Dial up and be sure not to enter a username or password.

This works well for me, dont really need the software as I get an SMS when my bandwidth is almost maxed. Also: I have a HSDPA card and connection is at 1.8MBPS.
