Feb 8th links + feedback plz!

Many thanks to everyone who braved the cold and snow to come to Reading last night for the user group meeting, and of course to Lawrence who gave a great presentation. A few links that were mentioned during the evening:

SharePoint Community Portal:
http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/sharepoint/

MOSS 2007 SDK with MSDN wiki:

New MSDN SharePoint forums:

If anybody has any feedback about last nights meeting feel free to post your thoughts here, we're also looking for ideas for the meetings coming up in the next few months....

Ive created a shortcut to the UK area of Lawrence's new SharePoint Community area is:

http://uksharepoint.com

a lot easier to remember than the full URL.

At the moment it is only enabled such that Microsoft people can add to the site.
The idea is that we will get it Passport enabled so every one can contribute to the appropriate areas.

I welcome ideas on how we should use this area for the benefit of the UK SharePoint Community.

I dont see it as a replacement for this community or site - but instead should be a signpost for this community and other UK communities / activities / initiatives / etc

Thanks for organising Nick, and thanks to Lawrence for doing it...  ...it was interesting, useful, and left me a lot more stoked up than a presentation by an 'evangelist' (awful term) would.

I've tried to capture the points I remembered (mainly for my colleagues) - http://www.novolocus.com/display.php?id=381 - but I'm sure that there's a lot of stuff that I've forgotten. Has anyone else written up the points they remembered? There was a lot of useful stuff there.

Nick, finally attended my first SUGUK meeting!
The points I have taken from this are (hopefully compliments AndyBurns post)
- SharePoint v.Next will be an incremental change and will be released in 2-3 years
- Microsoft are committed to the community - http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/sharepoint - Mike some may want the qudos of posting to a Microsoft.com domain :)
- Microsoft expect (and encourage) Partners to fill the gaps
- Do not delay in implementing MOSS/WSS v3 - There will be lots more information and best practice samples on route
- Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for WSS V3 - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=19f21e5e-b715-4f0c-b959-8c6dcbdc1057&DisplayLang=en
- Re-engineering of WSS V3 sites - This will make SharePoint Designer a really value add tool as any changes should be possible to be extracted into a true site definition.

Generally I think SharePoint is a fantastic product/platform, with 2007 it has grown and with vNext it will mature further still.
