Newcastle meeting Roundup

Thanks to everyone for attending the meeting at Newcastle last week. We had 40 people and I hope everyone found the sessions useful. I found it very interesting that out of all the attendees no company had yet installed an Anti Virus on their SharePoint system. I think I will repeat this session in London in the near future.

A for Penny's talk we had the extra surprse of Penny giving away Her new MS Press SharePoint Designer Step by Step http://mindsharpblogs.com/penny/archive/2008/01/20/4184.aspx

As I mentioned in the meeting we really want some suggestions for what you would all like to cover in future meetings and we can then start to organise them. To get the ball started :

- To have an open round table discussion on best practices for Design and implementation.

Hi,  I agree with this Topic.

We all know the technology aspects and it is useful to know all of the features and what benefits these will bring to yuor organisation, but without the right buy-in from your userbase and effort from the project team to actively sell these benefits then your projects can fail.

I'd like to see the Planning and People aspects addressed at a future user group session - and discuss how everyone else is doing this.

Hi,
it was great to see yet another successful event in Newcastle.  I'd just like to mention that VBUG have an event running next week at the Royal Station Hotel.  We are pleased to have Oliver Sturm covering .Net 3.0 in a game challenge!  - For further details and to register for attendance go to - http://www.vbug.com/Events/February-2008/VBUG-LINQ-with-Oliver-Sturm.aspx

Cheers
